HOW TO MANAGE DIET WHILE SOCIALISING?

We all love get-togethers & socializing. Love to spend some quality time with our loved ones. Take a break from work and travel. With the increasing trend and changes in lifestyle, we all are part of the ’N’ number of different groups. We like to plan a lunch with office colleagues, we like to meet our college friends over a drink, those mandatory family get-togethers, and of course, how can I forget the new trend of “Kitty Party’s”. These are the most common ones, and the list is never-ending.
Remember these outings and meetings are for fun. It is good and very much required for our mental health. But don’t let your physical health being compromised over it. Food is only a part of what makes gatherings a pleasure. If you truly engage yourself in socializing and in conversations, no one will notice if you put your fork down.
Remember these basic tips, before you step out
# Plan your outings in advance, which will help you to plan your meals for the day.
(If you meet over dinner, please eat smartly for your breakfast and lunch
Similarly, for lunch and breakfast meets)
#Reserve your calories for the outing and have salads, soups, light meals when at home, complete your protein macros and reserve the carbs .
# Never go on an empty stomach. (You will not be able to control on the portion)
#Eat or drink something light, which keeps you fuller for a long time before you step out.
#Try to practice Intermittent Fasting, to avoid unnecessary outings, or dessert gets together.
#Order for best healthy options available on the menu. (You cannot cheat your mind)
#Order for salads, with dressings separate.
#Ditch the gravy, and hands on to GRILLED foods.
#Instead of Mocktails, order for Fresh lime soda (sour), Diet cokes, Or any calorie-free drinks.
#If in a coffee house, go for Green tea, Black coffee, Chamomile tea, Black tea etc.
#Ditch the desserts, they are just cravings.
#Try to complete your meal, in Soups, salads, and starters. Avoid the main course.
#Its completely fine and OK to say “NO”
#Get back on the Track, from your very next Meal.
#If insisted, have little bits and STOP.
#DO NOT MISS YOUR WORKOUT, on that particular day.
#Try to move a little extra on that day.
#In a buffet spread, Fill your plate at once and refrain yourself from 2nd servings. ( Your plate should be filled with salads, protein and then carbs )
#Ditch the pasta and get yourself done some sautéed exotic vegetables. (Believe it! It tastes a lot better and different from the one you have at home)
#Eat in small portions and eat slowly.
#Its difficult to count on calories when you are eating outside, but you can definitely keep a check on your portion size.
Don’t let socializing sabotage your diet efforts, your fitness, your journey of being healthy. Also at the same time, don’t let your diet ruin your social life. While following a quantified nutritional diet and seeing changes in themselves, many fear to socialize feeling they may ruin their progress. Please understand, it's not so. There is a key to every lock!
